What a rugged tablet manufacturer should specify for you

We are a rugged tablet manufacturer, and the two rows on this page are our handheld 8 inch Android units. They share a Rockchip RK3399 chipset, Android 9.0, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. One model, the HG805G, lists a 1280 by 800 resolution; the other, HGN801, leaves resolution blank in our table. When a cell is blank, treat it as unknown until you ask us. Do not assume it is lower or higher.

The real choice is in options. NFC at 13.56 MHz is listed as optional on both models. Scanner and ID reader modules are fitted per order on the HGN801. PoE is not listed for either, so plan for battery or DC power unless you confirm PoE with us. The battery is a two-cell 7.4 V pack of about 5600 mAh, enough for a shift but not a week.

If your project needs a rugged tablet OEM or rugged tablet ODM path, the base hardware is the same. What changes is how we configure Android, housing color, logo method, and the preloaded apps. Send us the RFQ items in the next section.

What to put in the RFQ for these rugged tablets

Before you send an RFQ, list the environment. We need drop height, operating temperature range, and any exposure to dust, water, or chemicals. The listed protection level is IP65, but that is a single number. Your use case may demand a different test profile. We can check our test data before sampling, but we do not promise a different IP rating unless the product table shows it.

Next, specify the software. Do you want GMS or AOSP? Launcher lock-down? Open ADB access? These are standard choices on our Android tablets. Also state whether you need the optional NFC, a scanner, or an ID reader. Camera and 4G are optional on many models, but for these two rows they are not listed, so confirm with us.

Finally, tell us the RAM and storage tier. The table shows one tier per model. If you need more, we can discuss a different tier only if the chipset supports it. Same for Android version: it follows the chipset, so do not ask for Android 13 on RK3399 unless we confirm a new BSP.

Installation, mounting, and what these tablets are not

These are handheld units, so mounting is usually a strap, a dock, or a vehicle cradle. For fixed installations, look at our PoE Android tablets or 10 inch Android tablets, which are built for wall or desk mounting.

An industrial rugged tablet is not a medical device. Our medical tablets are information and call terminals, not certified medical hardware. We do not tune antennas, write drivers for third-party scanners, or promise field service. A buyer who needs a custom housing should expect tooling discussions, not a one-week sample.

Common questions

What is the difference between HG805G and HGN801?

Both are 8 inch handheld rugged tablets with RK3399, Android 9.0, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, and IP65. The HG805G lists 1280 by 800 resolution; the HGN801 does not list resolution in our table. NFC is optional on both. Scanner and ID reader modules are fitted per order on the HGN801. Ask us for the full spec sheet to compare every cell.

Can I get a rugged tablet with a different Android version?

The Android version follows the chipset. These models are listed with Android 9.0 on RK3399. If you need a newer version, we can check whether a newer BSP exists for that chipset, but we cannot promise it without verification. A different chipset, like RK3566 or RK3568, may be available on other models on our site.

Do these rugged tablets support 4G or GPS?

The table does not list 4G or GPS for these two models. 4G is optional on many Android tablets, but for these rows you must confirm with us before ordering. If your project needs 4G, tell us the region and carrier, and we will check whether the current mainboard supports a module and antenna.
